Together, We Moved for Change: Thank You, Lancaster!
On Saturday, April 26, something extraordinary happened in the heart of Lancaster.
Over 3,100 people—from elite runners to first-time 5K participants, spirited teams to solo supporters—came together at Musser Park for the 27th Annual Race Against Racism. It wasn’t just our biggest post-COVID race—it was one of the largest in our event’s history, a testament to the power of community moving with purpose.
By the Numbers:
3,168 participants
160 race teams across nonprofits, businesses, schools, and more
The fourth-largest Race Against Racism in Lancaster history
Your presence made this more than a race. It made it a movement.

Why We Race
Every dollar raised stays right here in our community, fueling the critical social justice work of YWCA Lancaster. Because of your participation, we’re able to:
Launch Justice Now, a new monthly series advancing equity education
Revitalize the Dorothy Height Social Justice Club, fostering year-round community connection
Host free community events like our MLK Day Celebration
Invest in local creatives through the Black Artist Waystation
Support the Lancaster County Racial Equity Profile, a vital tool for data-informed advocacy
As YWCA Lancaster CEO Stacie Blake shared:
“The race itself can’t solve racism, but it fuels the critical work we do every day — equipping individuals with the knowledge, tools, and community needed to create change and build a Lancaster where everyone belongs, is valued, and is supported.”
The Movement Continues
At a time when equity and inclusion efforts are facing resistance across the nation, our community made it clear: we will not be silent. As our Communications Manager, Demetrius Archer put it:
“Events like this remind us that real change requires all of us to show up, speak out, and keep pushing forward together. Seeing our community unite like this gives us hope—and fuels the movement.”
Let’s carry that momentum forward. Stay connected. Get involved. Keep moving.
